Leader - Movie Review (Tamil) – A Decent First Half, But Falls Flat Later

The movie Leader, directed by R. S. Durai Senthilkumar and starring Legend Saravanan, is an action thriller that attempts to deliver a commercial entertainer while working around the limitations of its lead actor.

🎬 Story Overview

The story is set in Thoothukudi, where a criminal named Prabhakar runs a large-scale illegal smuggling operation through the harbor. A determined police officer, Andrea, is closely tracking his activities and waiting for the right moment to bring him down.

Meanwhile, the protagonist works as a mechanic in a garage and lives a quiet life with his young daughter. Interestingly, the villain’s vehicles frequently come to this same garage, giving the hero indirect access to him.

Andrea sees this as an opportunity and asks the hero for help in approaching the villain. However, he refuses, valuing his professional ethics and loyalty to his customers. Things take a turn when Andrea executes a plan without his knowledge, and both the hero and his daughter get caught up in the consequences. What follows forms the crux of the film.

👍 What Works

The film starts with some familiar tropes but quickly gets into the main storyline. The first half is fast-paced and engaging, with minimal distractions.

Director Durai Senthilkumar deserves credit for clearly understanding his objective—to present Legend Saravanan in a better light compared to his debut film. Instead of focusing on areas that previously attracted criticism, the film leans heavily into action.

  • Dance and romance elements are kept to a minimum

  • The focus remains on action sequences

  • The first half maintains good momentum

  • Some action scenes are well-executed

  • Background score by Ghibran adds strength to the film

👎 What Doesn’t Work

The second half is where the film starts to lose its grip.

  • The narrative becomes predictable and filled with clichés

  • Several scenes feel heavily inspired by other films

  • Writing often relies on convenience rather than logic

  • Too many twists are forced into the screenplay

  • Certain portions test the viewer’s patience

Additionally, the ease with which characters move between locations and execute plans feels unrealistic, affecting the overall believability.

🎭 Performances

Legend Saravanan shows some improvement compared to his previous outing, especially in terms of screen presence and styling. However, his acting still lacks depth and emotional expression.

Supporting actors like Shaam, Andrea, and Lal deliver decent performances within their roles, though some characters feel routine and predictable.

🎵 Music & Technical Aspects

Ghibran’s background score stands out and enhances several moments in the film. However, the songs themselves are not particularly memorable.

🎯 Final Verdict

Leader is a film that offers a fairly engaging first half but slips into a very average and formulaic second half. While it doesn’t break new ground, it manages to be watchable if you go in with low expectations.

Compared to some recent underwhelming releases, this film feels slightly better, but overall, it remains a strictly average action thriller.

L.I.K (Love Insurance Kompany) - Tamil Movie - A Brief Review

Vignesh Shivan written and directed romantic comedy movie *L.I.K (Love Insurance Kompany)* is really a new attempt in a rom-com backdrop.  This movie tries to attempt to reveal in a lighter vain about contemporary young generation's love, relationship, and the feelings.

**Story Line Brief**

This movie's core idea and the main story revolves around an interesting idea is that whether an insurance scheme is needed for one's invaluable love feeling or not.  A new and revolutionary idea that of a company offers to the young people is that it will give insurance security to the persons who failed in their love (this idea only covers the whole story).  Through this lighter story line director Vignesh Shiavan handles love, faith, and split in a lighter vain.

**Acting**

All actors have done their roles normally on their own way especially Pradeep Ranganathan did his balanced performance in comedy and love feelings etc.  Contemporary politician Seeman also did a crucial role in the move and SJ Surya did his brilliant performance as usual.  Krithi Shetty as Dheema also did her decent performance as the female lead.  Other supporting roles are by Yogi Babu as Jolly Prabhu, Gouri G Kishan as Kalki, Shah Ra as Jayanth, and Malavika as Vaala Meen have done their best in the movie.

**Music and Songs**

Music is the biggest strength of the movie.  All songs have already become super hit amonng young audience.  Background score gives soul the story at all crucial places.  Cinematography and editing have handled with utmost quality.

**Special Things in the Movie**

* New story knot.

* Very practically enjoyable comedy

* Touching the love feelings of Gen-Z generation

**Weakness if any**

* Sometimes story is felt like losing some pace

* Climax has no great impact as expected

**Final Verdict**

*L.I.K* is a light-hearted entertainer brilliantly directed by Vignesh Shivan with Love and Comedy in a right mix.  If you visit the movie in theaters without much expectation surely LIK would be a great experience to a viewer.

⭐ **RATING** 3/5
